We welcome you to share in the warmth and comfort of our home set back on a large corner lot (about 3/4 acre) in the Brick Street District, and located in the heart of Tyler just off the downtown square. It is nestled under old Pecan, Willow Oak, Chinese Pistache, Sweetgum and Magnolia trees, with off-street private parking available and ample street parking. The closest Bed & Breakfast Inn to downtown.
The house, which is almost 4000 square feet, features 17 original 1884 stained-glass windows, doors and transoms, original Oak and Heart of Pine floors throughout, crystal chandeliers, and several porches and balconies for our guests to enjoy. We offer central air and heat for your comfort. In the Rear Garden , you will find our large outdoor deck and arbors, along with our 1920's Iron Ore fence wall, wishing well, Goldfish Pond, and Goldfish fountain.
Choose from the 4 guest rooms upstairs and 2 downstairs in the main house. All are delightfully decorated and furnished with period American antiques. The downstairs guest rooms have working gas fireplaces for our guests' enjoyment. The Front Parlor is where you are invited to visit and read from our library, or check out pictures from the manor's restoration. All the rooms have private baths which include wall-mounted hairdryers. Some bathrooms have restored antique claw-foot tubs with shower.
Wireless (WIFI) Internet, an iron and ironing board are available. Most rooms have overhead ceiling fans and digital alarm clocks. All rooms have cable TV. All rooms are non-smoking, with smoking areas available outside.
Directly behind the main house are two carriage houses that were built in the 1930s. The Rockway Carriage House and the Mockingbird Cottage feature very private accommodations on a 2nd floor. With over 700 square feet, the Rockway Carriage House includes a private kitchen, dining room, and living room. Guests in the Rockway Carriage House can also enjoy the small private balcony, or a covered shared deck. The Mockingbird Cottage is slightly larger at 725 square feet, and also includes a private kitchen, dining room, and living room. In addition to the queen bed in the bedrooms, the Rockway Carriage House has a queen sofa sleeper in the living room to accommodate additional people.
Guests will typically find a variety of snacks on the sideboard in the main house Dining Room, or in the kitchen if you are in the Mockingbird Cottage or Rockway Carriage House. In the main house, a guest refrigerator is located in the armoire in the rear hall. Also, you can prepare yourself a hot beverage (flavored or herbal teas, coffee, hot cocoa or apple cider) anytime during your stay using the Keurig at the snack bar. In the morning, freshly brewed coffee services are available at about 7:00am. In the formal Dining Room, a bountiful breakfast awaits you, served on Johnson Brothers' Blue Willow china with crystal and silver. We look forward to serving YOU at the Woldert-Spence Manor!
