Our (true) Story:
We met in a dream, that dream came to life; and we are blessed to share our good fortune with the world we meet.
Thomas “Mike” (The Colonel) is an American hero who actively served our country for 26 years, and retired from the Pentagon. Born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma, the military provided steady employment, global travel, exemplary values, and a Masters Education. A second career in project management, along with 10 years as an EMT volunteering in the community, rounded out the first few chapters of life. The Colonel is now in charge of materials acquisition and heavy lifting. He treats his wife like a queen, strangers like friends, and friends like family. An engaging story and genuine smile will always accompany his helping hands. Favorite remark: “We are meeting everyone in the world, one person at a time.”
Barbara (The Queen) is the multi-dimensional muse of creativity and design. Born and raised in Upstate New York, a sense of adventure has taken her through most of the 50 States (Alaska is still on the bucket list) and many other wonderful locations. An Executive Assistant by profession, this Queen B is highly intuitive, organizational, curious, resourceful, and sometimes flashy--expect a little bit of glitter and the magical element of surprise! Quality, goodness, care, and joyful experiences are the hallmarks of her seemingly tireless efforts. Favorite remark: “Life is a Cabernet!” (Savor it, swirl a little, feel the bubbles, and enjoy!)
Our combined adventure began with small, tentative steps…literally. Soon after meeting, we took a 6-week beginner’s ballroom dancing class. It was so much fun, that we continued for three years! Our July 4th wedding dance was the Cha-Cha-Cha and guests celebrated with fireworks viewed from a dinner cruise on the Erie Canal outside of Syracuse. Although not currently as well-practiced, an occasional twirl around the parlor or patio still evokes the charm we find in each other.
We cherish our time with four children who are all fabulous in their own rights; a passion for travel; and engaging with people from many walks of life.
After enjoying ten years of living and working the fast-paced life in Northern Virginia and Washington D.C., we decided to take our talents to a whole new level. We believe in living the life that we dream; recognizing the circumstances and opportunities that will bring those dreams, and perhaps a fragment of fantasy, to life.
When we visited in the fall of 2014 we immediately knew Tyler, Texas was a great location; and the Woldert-Spence Manor was our dream home. Come share with us, if only for a moment in time, a wonderful, relaxing experience and some sweet dreams of your own.
And our adventure continues...
